One of the biggest problem I have in songwriting is starting the song off. For some reason I can't seem to find a solid first verse and it's very fustrating. Most of the time it's the first word in the verse I can't get comfortable with. Any suggestions on how to improve the writing? Or anyone have/had simular problems?

Writing a song, particulalry a verse and chorus, can be very tough/intimidating for guitarist- one the the problems is that singing carries the melody of the music and guitarist sometimes write verses/choruses that are melodically prominent, as opposed to rythm based. Rythm guitar can be the toughest part of writing oftentimes- get a solid chord progression and fool aorund with it. While thoery is extremely improtant in composing music, playing it by ear is also very important.
