Hey guys. I am looking at getting a new amp. I have a 85 ish Telecaster made in the USA. I have been playing through a Fender Deluxe 85 for the last 15 years. They where kind of hand me downs from my dad who was into jazz blues. Well I like to play that stuff but is not my number one. I am looking for a clean, powerful punk, alternative, new rock sound. I know my tele probably isn't the best for this sound, but I am going to take it one step at a time. So what kind of amp can you guys recommend. I am trying to get educated before I go torture the sales agents at Guitar Center. I would like something that can keep up with the drums when jamming. The word Vintage scares me because I am not to crazy about the classic rock sound.
so far:
Marshal, mesa boogie...
Wanting to spend $500-$1000

Any advise/help is apprecieated

thanks mike

I would check out the reviews on harmony-central.com. Go here: http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar+Amp

So just find a handful of amps in your price range and see what people have to say. But when all is said and done play some amps and see which ones you click with. The reviews can help narrow the playing field.

later,

brian
